The main theme of the lecture series, I chose not only what I know best, but also what can be interesting to people. Everyone has heard about Alexander the Great at least once in his life. What can not be said, for example, about any war in the Far East. I also thought of telling about the Thirty Years War, but few have heard of it either, and the topic is more complicated. Therefore, the king of Macedonia from the Argead dynasty seemed to me an ideal option.

After I made a schedule of online lectures, my mother posted a post on Facebook with a link to “Google. Documents”, where everyone had to fill out a questionnaire. In it it was necessary to indicate the name, surname, age and email address. And also write how well a person is familiar with the history of Ancient Greece and why he decided to listen to my lecture.
I do not have a pre-prepared text that I am reading from a leaflet. I just tell the audience what I have in my head. I present an approximate plan, according to which everything will go, I make presentations with pictures to it, focusing on each prepared slide during the story.

I usually re-read historical books in advance to refresh some moments in my memory. And I rehearse the speech - I walk around the room and pronounce the text of the lecture, which I would like to talk about.
Unexpected facts are much better than tedious repetition of dates.

The first experience showed that everything went according to plan. I told everything I wanted, and completed in 45 minutes. The only thing I did not know about was how many people would be. Because 90 people registered, and there were about 42 accounts in the lesson. Naturally, several people logged in from the same account.
I know that there were many adults and children at the lecture. Even junior high school students listened to me, although I was counting more on high school. Therefore, I tried to tell in such a way that everyone was interested. I had to adjust some topics to suit younger viewers.

It seems to me that the story in general needs to be submitted through exciting stories with interesting and unexpected facts.
This is much better than tedious repetition of dates. Therefore, I spoke lively and enthusiastically so that people would see how interested I am. And I tried to keep a balance between simplification and academicity, to speak in simple words, but at the same time give terms and names that are useful to know.

Now I plan to do two or three pauses during the lecture for the questions of the students. In the first lecture, I missed this point, but now I will work on it so that people do not have open places.
I hope that thanks to my online lectures, people will discover the love of history within themselves, and those who are already crazy about it will simply learn something new. The main thing for me is that no one regrets that they spent Sunday morning on me, enrolling in my course.
