4 ways to help children become independent

Modern children are often accused of non-independence. Little ones do not want to play themselves, older children do not cope with lessons. Our blogger Diana Tevosova believes that the reason is in over-custody parents.

Many children are not used to occupying themselves - they are waiting for their parents to offer an activity for them, solve a problem, or come up with entertainment.

Often this inability to entertain oneself arises from the excessive custody of adults, which drowns out the natural research instinct in children. But such a model negatively affects the life and character of the child in the future. How to bring up independence in a child?
1. Allocate free time

Allow enough time for your child to play freely from early childhood. But set the boundaries in advance: define everything “impossible” and “possible” and do not change the rules later. Let the child try new activities and independently seek new solutions to familiar tasks.
The more hobbies he has, the more interesting he will be alone with himself. The fewer ready-made scripts you give him, the better the fantasy will develop and the more confident the child will feel in this world.
2. Plan a day

Planning a day helps a lot. Agree in advance with the child when and what you will do together, and at what hours he will have to entertain himself. Often children are so keen on independent activities that they forget about time.
3. Assign him household chores

Identify household chores for which the child will be responsible. Accustoming to work positively affects the formation of responsibility and independence. Such children understand the price of free time and will not spend it on boredom.
4. Limit gadgets

I do not advise "entertaining" children with cartoons and computer games. The gadget will help to distract the child, but will not be able to develop it and teach independence. All children initially have a good fantasy, but it is important to help her develop, and not oppress her by immersion in the virtual world.
For the development of independence, distance learning is excellent. The advantages of the remote format are that the child has to control the learning process himself and put more effort into achieving success.
